The Lanson’s Oenothèque,
priceless heritage In the heart of Reims, the City of Coronations, Maison Lanson has always guarded a priceless treasure. Located fifteen metres underground, are the Cellars that house a collection of old Vintages, which are living proof of the Maison’s history and savoir-faire.
These corridors of time preserved in monastic silence, the imprint of centuries, of the Great Wars and of Men. Although the cellar records of Lanson’s Cellar Masters reveal the existence of an 1874 Vintage, our earliest bottles on display date from the 1904 Vintage.
Cultivating the past to brighten the future Aware of the value and rarity of such heritage, Hervé Dantan, our Cellar Master, and his team have undertaken work to restore, preserve and develop the Oenothèque. Tens of thousands of bottles were meticulously inventoried and analysed, some of them tasted and even restored, with a view to preserving this exceptional heritage. Each bottle of the Oenothèque now has a digital passport along with a unique identification number. At Lanson, history is not just written in the past, it is the path to the future.
Lanson Vintage Collection :
A treasure within the Oenothèque Lanson Vintage Collection embodies the very essence of Maison Lanson’s savoir-faire in the traditional vinification method without malolactic fermentation and reflects its perpetual quest for excellence to ensure the exceptional longevity of its Wines. From the 1976 Vintage onwards, Lanson family decide to sell a very exclusive number of bottles. Enhanced by late disgorging, each Vintage develops a unique aromatic signature. It is an invitation to travel through time, a bridge between the ages. Each bottle is decorated by hand and comes in an elegant gift box, crafted from wood by passionate French artisans, with a shared commitment to sustainability and excellence.
